How We Know What We Know
read the title ?
have you ever wondered about it ?
i have to confess that i've never thought about this .
when i'm kind of 'meditating' , i think of questions like :
why are we born ?
why this era ?
why do i have to experience those things ?
why is there karma ?
well , not that the questions have a definite answer .
and so , i take everything i have in life for granted .
(okay , for most things )
and yes , knowledge included .
okay , before i start rattling again , i have to give credit for this statement .
it's in my applied social research lecture notes .
and sociology is so super cool .
you must must must study it .
lol .
credit acknowledged , i'll continue !
heh . XD
alright , so there are FOUR sources of knowledge .
1. direct experience and observation
2. personal inquiry
3. tradition
4. authority
okay , i shall not be mean and explain .
just in case you don't understand . :D
1. well , the name itself explains it all . by that i mean , you experience it YOURSELF .
2. interacting with people , and ask them about it . yeah , just like what i do when i'm meditating .
3. how you are brought up .
wait a minute , it's by accepting what everybody knows , we avoid starting from scratch in our search for understanding . =]
4. discoveries and understandings produced by others .
it's also kind of like being told by one who has more experience and knowledge to do something .
SO THAT'S ALL .
AND PEOPLE ,
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED !
